Marriage and Civil Union Ceremonies
How wonderful ~ you are planning a wedding!
Whether it’s your own wedding or for someone near and dear, this is a ceremony and celebration for love. What could be more beautiful?
As your celebrant I will work with your dreams, ideas and fantasies of a perfect wedding to create a ceremony that is exactly what you want. I will listen and engage with you so that we craft a ceremony that is uniquely yours.
You may want something very unconventional and quirky, or you may want to include many traditional elements; you may want simple, informal, traditional or elegant. Perhaps too, you’re blending cultural traditions or spiritualities.
Anything is possible!
You may already know almost exactly what you want and you only need a celebrant for the legal aspects of your marriage/civil union.
Perhaps you need someone to bounce your ideas off and help you bring them together into a ceremony that flows beautifully.
Or you may have no idea what you really want to include. There are so many possibilities out there; how are you ever going to narrow them down into a ceremony that is deeply personal for you?
I see a part of my role as a celebrant as helping you to clarify exactly what you want in your ceremony so that it becomes deeply personal and genuine.
The Process - how does it work?
Our first meeting is free of charge and, of course, without obligation.
This is your chance to ‘check me out’, to decide whether you would like me to be your celebrant and it’s my chance to get to know you a little and to begin to find out what you have in mind for your wedding. I am in Napier, Hawke’s Bay, however if you are out of Hawke’s Bay or overseas, let’s Skype!
Some couples feel that they don’t need this first ‘check me out’ meeting but you are certainly offered the opportunity.
Once you decide to engage me as a celebrant I will give you a resource pack to help spark ideas and some questions to begin our planning.
I’ll also ensure you know how to organise getting a marriage licence.
Our second meeting
This is when we’ll do a lot of sharing of possible ideas and plans for your ceremony. We’ll begin as much in-depth planning as we can.
Design and planning
I’ll then sit down with all your ideas and begin putting them together into a ceremony especially created for you. (We will have clarified how much you want to be involved with writing this yourself.)
We can meet as many times as you want to, to discuss and develop your ceremony. Your ideas are sure to grow and develop as we do this.
We can confirm a lot of details via telephone, email or Skype but if you live nearby it is also wonderful to meet face to face. We may only need one more meeting, or we may need a few more.
We’ll add, change and tweak as much as you want to and, in the end, we’ll have your perfect ceremony.
This is highly recommended. A rehearsal ensures everyone in the wedding party understands what will happen, where they need to be and when. It gives us a final chance to iron out any issues so that on the day everyone is relaxed, confident and ready to celebrate your love and happiness.
On the day
I will arrive early and ensure everything is set up for the ceremony. Our preparation will ensure it runs smoothly and is deeply meaningful.
Afterwards I’ll lodge the official documentation with the Department of Internal Affairs.
